Background of Starstreet Precinct

Since 1988, Swire Properties, the developer of Pacific Place, has started to acquire and redevelop properties in Star Street area and transformed the neighborhood into a commercial area.

Starstreet was historically a site of Hong Kong Electric’s Wan Chai Power Plant, which was once the first electricity generating station in Hong Kong.

The station was built in 1890. In order to celebrate the new street lighting in the area, the surrounding streets were renamed into Star Street, Moon Street, Star Street.

Apart from Star Street, shops on Sun Street and Moon Street are turning from shops for warehouse use and petite boutiques into the Eat and Drink streets, where European cafes, cake shops and Latin American Bars are all around now. Combining Star Street and the adjoining lanes, Starstreet Precinct is lined with stylish galleries, chic furniture outlets, cosy cafes and flagship restaurants.

The entire area features a distinctive ambience reminiscent of London’s renowned Covent Garden. For total convenience, Three Pacific Place Link which connects Starstreet Precinct with the Pacific Place complex and MTR Admiralty Station, has been completed.
